ABOUT US

Hey, we’re The Northside Tides, an indie rock band from Portland, Oregon. We’re four friends—Sam on lead vocals and guitar, Mia on bass and backing vocals, Derek on lead guitar, and Jake on drums—who’ve been making music together since 2014. What started as some casual jam sessions in Sam’s garage has grown into something bigger than we ever imagined, and we’re so excited to share our journey with you.

Our name comes from our favorite spot in town, the Northside pier. We’d spend countless nights there, just hanging out, watching the tides roll in, and talking about life. It felt like the perfect name for our band—reflecting our laid-back vibe, but also the dynamic energy we try to bring to our music.

Our sound is a mix of jangly guitars, catchy melodies, and lyrics that we hope speak to those moments in life that are both simple and profound. We’ve been inspired by everything from the folk-rock grooves of Fleetwood Mac to the grunge legacy of our Pacific Northwest roots, and we like to think that comes through in our music.

We released our first album, "Rolling Home," back in 2017, and our single "Summer Days" got some love on the local airwaves, which was a huge moment for us. Since then, we’ve played a bunch of shows up and down the West Coast, and we even got to hit a few festivals, which was a dream come true.

But no matter how far we go, we’re always going to be the same group of friends who love making music together. We’re proud of where we come from, and we’re passionate about staying connected to our community here in Portland.

We dropped our second album, "Under the Same Sky," in 2020, and it’s all about the connections that keep us going, even when times get tough. We’ve got a lot more music in us, and we can’t wait to see where the tides take us next. Thanks for being part of our journey!
